Thinking It Was Safe to Drive after Smoking Pot
Like most 18-25 year olds, Rafael Garcia thought it was safer to drive stoned until he hit and killed California Highway Patrol Officer, Justin McGrory. The night of the accident, his buddies didn’t want to drive because they were drunk and had used pot. Rafael’s story reminds us that marijuana and driving don’t mix – just like alcohol and driving don’t mix. Rafael didn’t get a DUI, but he did spend two years in jail and still lives with the knowledge that he killed someone driving home high. Today, Rafael works with the Hound Foundation to spread the word about the dangers of driving under the influence of marijuana.
